By downloading or using the Discipulus application (“App”), these terms will automatically apply to you. Please make sure that you read them carefully before using the App.

1. Open Source License & Intellectual Property

Discipulus is open-source software. Its source code is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0). You are free to inspect, modify, and redistribute the software in accordance with the terms of that license.

All trademarks, brand names, and related design assets remain the intellectual property of HarryDeKat.

2. Services & Changes

HarryDeKat is committed to ensuring that the App is as useful and efficient as possible. For that reason, we reserve the right to make changes to the App or to charge for its services, at any time and for any reason. We will never charge you for the App or its services without making it very clear to you exactly what you are paying for.

3. Local Data Storage & Device Security

The Discipulus app stores and processes data locally on your device to provide our Service. It is your responsibility to keep your device and access to the App secure. We recommend that you do not jailbreak or root your device, which is the process of removing software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your device. It could make your device vulnerable to malware, viruses, and malicious programs, compromise security features, and cause the App not to work properly.

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services that declare their own Terms and Conditions:

5. Connectivity & Network Usage

Certain functions of the App require an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data). HarryDeKat cannot take responsibility for the App not working at full functionality if you do not have access to an active internet connection or have exhausted your data allowance.

If you are using the App outside of an area with Wi-Fi, the terms of the agreement with your mobile network provider still apply. You may be charged by your mobile provider for the cost of data for the duration of the connection while accessing the App, including roaming data charges if you use the App outside of your home territory without turning off data roaming. If you are not the bill payer for the device on which you are using the App, we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer.

You are also responsible for keeping your device charged. If it runs out of battery and you cannot turn it on to access the Service, HarryDeKat cannot accept responsibility.

6. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimer — IMPORTANT

With respect to HarryDeKat’s responsibility for your use of the App, it is important to bear in mind that although we endeavor to ensure that information is updated and correct at all times, we rely on third parties (such as the Magister API) to provide information to us so that we can present it to you.

  • As Is: The App and its information are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without any express or implied warranties.
  • No Liability for Inaccuracies: HarryDeKat accepts no liability for any loss, direct or indirect, you experience as a result of relying wholly on this functionality of the App or any errors, delays, or omissions in the displayed data.
  • Verification: You are responsible for verifying critical information (such as assignment deadlines, exam times, and grades) via official school channels or the official Magister portal.

7. App Updates & Platform Support

At some point, we may wish to update the App. The App is available on Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and Linux. The requirements for these systems (and for any additional platforms we support in the future) may change, and you will need to download updates if you want to keep using the App.

HarryDeKat does not guarantee that it will always update the App so that it remains compatible with older operating system versions. Your rights regarding the open-source software itself remain governed by the GNU General Public License v3.0.

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Discipulus processes your Magister data locally on your device. For details on how information is handled, please consult our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to These Terms and Conditions

We may update our Terms and Conditions from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms and Conditions on this page.
